First of all I visited libraries in all the major towns along the Welsh Border and in Anglesey, particularly the great library at Cardiff, reading up everything I could find on the Celts and their involvement with the Romans.
At the same time I visited the main Celtic exhibitions along the border, particularly Celtica in Mid Wales, also the Celtic gold mine at Pumpsaint in South West Wales.
Many days were also spent visiting historical sites, particularly hill forts and Roman fortresses and a great deal of time was spent sitting in them and getting the atmosphere.
Visits were also made to Lindow Moss and the area from where the body of the Fox was recovered.
