Throughout my working life I was interested in ancient history, particularly the history of the Celts and, upon retirement, I determined to research the background of the Celtic hill forts that surrounded my home town of Leominster in the Welsh Marches.
This I commenced to do and very quickly became immersed in the history of the later Celts and their battles with the Romans. A record of my research and site visits very quickly grew and I began to write an account of their life. However, the name ‘Caratacus’, the greatest Celtic war leader of all time, so frequently intruded upon my research that I changed course and began to concentrate upon his life, with the intention of getting it published for posterity.
